Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? Nelson Mandela

I am 21 year old Herbert S. Wiltshire the IV from the beautiful country of Belize, Mother Natures’ best kept secret. I find my self to be a very friendly and out going young person always willing and eager to learn or try something new, especially as it regards meeting new people and sharing thought, views and experiences.
I believe that the best way young people and can equip themselves for their future in the working environment is by grasping as much life lasting experiences as they can by volunteering. I began volunteering in 2002 with the Belize YMCA by teaching Mathematics, English, and Swimming in their summer programs that year. Doing this was fun and I returned the following year this time teaching Computer-Science and Swimming. The experiences that I had grasp during this period was great and paid off in 2004 when I was hired to teach Computer-Science at Queen Street Baptist Primary School.
While still in High School I served as the Head Prefect of the School, Chair for the Schools’ Newsletter Committee, Lead Peer Educator for the Belize Family Life Association Sexual and Reproductive Health Peer Education Program in my school, and played a dynamic role in the school band by being a vocalist and also playing a wind instrument.
In March of 2005 I was selected by UNICEF Belize to attend the UN Secretary Generals’ Regional Study on Crime and Violence and to participate in the XChange Youth Leadership workshop in Trinidad and Tobago. At the workshop we had the honor of meeting some Brazilian young people who were using expressive art in their communities to help reduce the high levels of violence they faced. The entire XChange experience was intriguing to me and coming back to Belize I new I had to do something to help make that same kind of impact as the Brazilian, so I started with my very one neighbor hood. In April of 2005 Me and my younger brother formed a community-based group named ‘My Neighbors and Me’ , this group seeks to develop and promote children in my neighborhood
Belize is a small Central American country about the size of Massachusetts. Situated on the Caribbean Sea, it is bordered by Mexico and Guatemala. The northern regions are flat marshlands. The southern regions become mountainous, rising to 3,000 feet in the Mayan Mountains. Belize features the second longest barrier reef in the world, with small islands called cayes. Unlike the rest of Central America, Belize was not a Spanish colony, and its cultural legacy is unique.
